• Fred Loimer (took over operations in 1997) became one of the founding members of Respekt-Biodyn, a certifying body for biodynamic viticulture in Austria. In 2002, he was named Winemaker of the Year by Austria’s Falstaff magazine
• The peppery aroma found in Grüner comes from an aromatic compound called “Rotundone”
• The Kamptal DAC (wine region) in Northeastern Austria (or Niederösterreich) is named for the Kamp river, a tributary of the Danube, a great alternative to the more expensive Wachau wines
