Country: Australia
Region: Tasmania
Style: Devilishly Great Bubbles

Luxury sparkling wine doesn’t only come from Champagne. The list of other places that make baller sparklers includes Italy, Spain, California, Germany, and…Tasmania?  Yep, you read that right.  As luck would have it, Tasmania was discovered in 1642 by Abel Tasman when his ship, the Heemskerk, drifted off course. However, it would take another 350 years before some smart apple from France saw the potential to create world-class sparkling wines in the region. Fast forward to 1998 and Jansz was born. The Hill-Smith family realized that the similarities of Tasmania’s climate to northeast France, along with the rich and free-draining basalt soils, could be the foundation for making bubbles using the traditional Méthode Champenoise. Almost 25 years later Jansz has developed a cult-like following worldwide because savvy wine drinkers know quality when they taste it.
