2022 Alain Graillot ‘Syrocco’
Alain Graillot, a legendary Rhône Valley winemaker known for his expressive Syrahs from Crozes-Hermitage, stumbled upon Morocco’s potential while biking through the country. He returned with the idea to make wine—naturally, Syrah—in the coastal hills near Meknès, where the cool Atlantic influence and high elevation offer a surprisingly ideal climate.

‘Syrocco’ (yes, like the Mediterranean wind) is Morocco’s answer to Rhône-style Syrah: spicy, smoky, and savory but with warm sun-baked fruit. The wine is made with native yeasts, minimal intervention, and no new oak, allowing the juicy plum, black olive, and pepper notes to shine through. Think of it as Rhône soul with Moroccan sunshine.
