Please forgive our geekiness if we simply start drooling at the thought of drinking Albariño; much like a caged monkey’s Pavlovian response to the occasional banana thrown their way. We love Albariño’s refreshing fruit-forward flavor profiles, and lip-puckering acidity that can slake the thirst of even the most sophisticated of wine-maniacs. Intrigued?  Try this little gem. It’s produced by Jorge Ordóñez, the first to export this grape variety.  As an early champion, Jorge decried the use of Albariño to make simplistic, mass-produced, and commercial wines. His success in exporting high quality, artisanal examples of Albariño inspired him to start producing his own. La Caña easily demonstrates the potential that Albariño has as a serious varietal, despite its delightfully affordable price tag. Just so you know, no monkeys were harmed in the making of this blurb.
