Country: Slovenia
Region: Podravje
Style: Ferment Furmint

Kobal wines come from the Haloze appellation in Štajerska of Northeastern Slovenia. During the Roman Empire, Haloze was considered one of the top wine-growing sites in Central Europe. In Modern times, the only people that have heard of it are Sommeliers and Slovenians.  So it’s perfect for everywine!  Owner and winemaker, Bojan Kobal, is a scientist and true craftsman. His selections run the gamut from sparkling, white, red, and rosé, specializing in Slovenian varieties, but he plays with a few mainstream international grapes as well. The lineup of fresh Kobal whites, like this Furmint is really his bread and butter.  If you’re a white wine drinker and have never tried Furmint, you’re welcome.  This stuff is most known for being the main grape in the famous Hungarian Tokaji dessert wines popular with the royal family, but this bad boy is fermented dry for real people like you and me.
