grapes: lemberger, regent, schwarzriesling

What wine do you get when you produce a Bavarian blend made from three grapes: 1) Regent, which is a cross between Silvaner (which is a cross between Savagnin and Österreichisch-Weiß), Müller Thurgau (which is a cross of Riesling and Madeleine Royale [which is a table grape for eating] ) and Chambourcin (which is a cross between Seibel and several North American species such as Vitis Berlandieri, Vitis Labrusca, Vitis Lincemulli Buckley, Vitis Riparia Michx, Vitis Rupestris Scheele); 2) Schwarzriesling, which is commonly known as Pinot Meunier, which is used mainly in Champagne production; and 3) Lemberger (not to be confused with the stinky Limberger cheese) which is “commonly” known as Blaufränkisch which is a cross between Gouais Blanc, Blaue Zimmettraube, and Blauer Gänsfüsser? Wait a minute…where was I?  Uh, a delicious friggin’ wine made by the wife and husband team of Olympia Samara and Johannes Hoffmann who have committed themselves to making eclectic and interesting wines in Württemberg, Germany. Whew! Thank god that’s over!
