Country: Portugal
Region: Alentejo
Style: Bread & Butter

Bread and butter (noun) – A vital component of something… We like bread on our table.  It’s something we pass and share and indulge in, like most holiday foods. Butter is a universal way of elevating the already transcendental bread experience.  It’s also become a bit of a stigma associated with a formerly trending wine style from 80s and 90s.  But with wine, butter is a spectrum and it’s not exclusive to Chardonnay.  White wines can be mildly buttery to stick-o-butter. This guy is mild and it’s wild. Esporão was established in Alentejo in 1973.  Since then, all farming has since been converted to organic and biodynamic.  They’re making wine in a progressive, yet traditional way, and they’re getting tons of attention.  The 2019 Reserva is worth considering for your holiday table.  It’ll stand up to a diverse array of flavors and appeal to a wide range of people.
