• The Pecorino grape is named after sheep or ‘pecora’ in Italian,
    • Years ago, Italian sheep herds would trek through Abruzzo on the way to Puglia as part of the ‘transumanza’ (annual livestock movement). The sheep would always eat the Pecorino grapes because they were the earliest to ripen
    • The story continues that to compensate for the grapes their sheep ate, the shepherds would give the vineyard owners a gift of Pecorino cheese linking the grape and the cheese.
