Style: Acronymic Reds

Talk to a wino long enough and you just may hear the GSM acronym. In my day, winos were pan-handlers with a penchant for guzzling cheap wine so you wouldn’t be far off if you thought they were asking, “Got Some Money?”  Nowadays, in a particularly delicious turn of fate, the ‘wino’ moniker applies to so-called wine experts who bloviate endlessly about what wines they think are best. Invariably, their attention turns to GSMs; or a southern Rhône red blend made from Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre. This particular specimen comes to you straight out of the Western Cape in South Africa where the highly skilled winemakers at Thorne & Daughters have been killing it with this blend for ten years now. This family operation is producing tragically small quantities of wine at elite levels with remarkable consistency.  We bought the few cases available in Houston.  Let us know if you like it, so we can let you know when it’s back in stock.
