Country: France
Region: Savoie
Style: Jus de Apres Ski

After a long day of skiing in the Alps, what do skiers want when they get back to the lodge?  Fondue washed down with copious amounts of this wine. Why?  Because its friggin’ delicious!  It’s made from a local grape called Jacquère and is all the rage in the various ski lodges scattered throughout the French Alps. Jacquère is a clean and fresh alpine white grape variety grown in Savoie, France and is rarely seen outside of this region.  Furthermore, the freshness of this wine is perfect for hot summer days by the pool and grilling seafood thus transcending seasonality. Charles Gonnet, a local legend in the winemaking scene, uses 40 year old vines that are hand harvested, pressed immediately, and fermented in tank. And if scarcity is your bag then this wine is for you as not much Jacquère makes it to the States. Cheers!
