Country: Spain
Region: La Manch
Style: Ain’t No Culo Like Vinculo

Let’s face it. Rioja and Ribera del Duero pretty much dominate the red wine scene in Spain. For good reason.  Some of the world’s greatest bottles are produced there. And despite the relatively great value that Spanish wines represent, these categories can get a bit pricey. Over the last 40 years, visionary Spaniard, Alejandro Fernandez has cemented himself as the Godfather of Ribera del Duero.  Wines that used to cost $10/bottle have quintupled in price over that time, prompting him to seek out a new road less traveled.  Enter La Mancha. Apart from growing white wine grapes used mostly for distillation purposes, the La Mancha region is known for its old, gnarly Tempranillo vines.  El Vinculo was conceived with the aim of making limited-production fine wines in La Mancha from these wise old Tempranillo vines, perfectly adapted to local conditions. The result: another feather in the cap of the Fernandez family and a bright future for Vinculo.
